Philosophy

People experience challenges in their lives that are sometimes difficult to work through alone. Together, we can make sense of it so you can achieve a healthier, happier life. By providing a safe and empathic space, you can explore those challenges in your life. My approach to each session is to be with you through truly listening, providing a judgement-free environment, respectful challenge, and mutual participation throughout the therapeutic process. As a team, you and I will process the emotional, cognitive, physical, familial, and spiritual factors impacting your life and preventing you from achieving your goals.

I am a psychotherapist and organizational consultant with nearly two decades of experience providing counselling and consulting in the healthcare and emotional eating fields. I work within a variety of areas, including stress, anxiety, depression, couples-related issues, communication and conflict resolution, alcohol and substance abuse, eating disorders, infertility/IVF and emotional eating.

Qualifications

Registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)

Master’s Degree in Counselling & Organizational/Industrial Psychology, Adler School for Professional Psychology, Chicago, IL

Previous appointments in clinical and leadership roles at Medcan, Helix Healthcare Group, Weightcare, Aspen Education Group, and Shepell-fgi, providing individual and couples counselling, using the modalities of cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and EMDR

I have authored two books: Basketcase (2018) and Hungry Heart: Break Free from Emotional Eating and Develop a Healthy Relationship with Food (2022). In Hungry Heart, I explore why we turn to food in the face of struggle and what we can do to change this behaviour.

I volunteer my clinical skills with Kutana WEMA, a Kenyan-based organization whose mission is to rehabilitate street children through holistic care and support and attach them to stable families. I am a part of their peer consultation program, which matches Kenyan-based counsellors with internationally-based counsellors for peer support.

I've been working in private practice since 2009
